"Share your stories" at United World College (UWC)

IMG 20230322 121138 min200 students from all over the world live at UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg in the close proximity of our school. So many people from so many different countries - that means they have a lot of stories to share. Thus they created a program called "Share your stories" and we, the Te L1 and L2, were invited to go there and listen to some of them. We heard presentations about the tech industry in Tanzania, a student from Madagascar coping with high expectations and a person from Colombia telling us about privilege in the violent environment of his home country. Then we were shown around the campus and invited to ask questions.

Here are some of our impressions:

It was a really interesting experience. Their presentations were interesting, and they were able to respond to our question very well. The little visit afterward was also quite interesting since we were able to see a little bit more about the campus and the discussions with the two students were also very entertaining."

"It was very interesting, especially since they talked about a variety of topics. It was great to get an insight on how they live and to be able to talk to them after the presentations."

"It was very nice seeing a community of people from all over the world living together."

"I found it interesting to hear that the colour red in the flags of Colombia as well as Madagascar, which used to be a French colony, stand for the blood shed in colonial times."

"This visit allowed me to discover another form of learning that mixes several cultures and several histories, which is very interesting."
